What is the payment schedule?

50% of the charter fee is required on signature of the contract to reserve your yacht. The remaining 50% of the charter fee is required 6 weeks before the departure date. If you have added extras, such as skipper, paddle boards etc, then these might have to be paid at the base before departure.

What is your Covid cancellation policy?

If you are unable to get to your departure destination due to COVID-19 disruption, you can reschedule till a later date within or 12 months or you can receive a credit note for your deposit which can be used toward a future charter. Rescheduled charters are subject to current pricing. The policy covers disruption as border closures, a government advisory against travelling to your destination or restrictions preventing us from operating your charter at the departure destination.

The following does not qualify as disruption: Failure to provide a negative COVID-19 test to enter the country you are visiting, and a requirement to quarantine to enter the country you are visiting or to return home.

How much should the crew tip be?

As always a tip is down to your discretion and is dependent on the level of service you have received over your charter. 10-15% of the charter fee is standard practice in the industry. 5-10% in the Med and 10-15% in the Caribbean.

What is the security deposit?

This is a non negotiable figure, that needs to be authorised on a credit card. The amount will not leave your account, however will be accessible if the boat comes back with damage, and taken in proportion to the damage done, if you did not take out insurance.

What happens in case of damage or an accident occurs?

The boats are insured and you are responsible for the total value of the pre-mentioned security deposit only. Sometimes there is an optional non-refundable damage deposit insurance (damage waiver) offered instead of regular security deposit.

Can I charter a yacht for a couple of days?

Whilst charter companies in the Mediterranean are required to be 7 days, Saturday to Saturday, there are day charters available. The Caribbean are much more relaxed and shorted charters of 5 days are allowed during peak times. However, during the Christmas period this increases to 7-10 days.

What is a bareboat charter?

A bareboat charter is when there is no hired help or skipper. It is the purest form of sailing, however a qualified member of crew is required to be responsible for the yacht.

In the Mediterranean yes, a minimum of a Day Skipper, ICC or an ASA104 will suffice, however this is dependent on the destination and the company. What is the APA?

The Advanced Provisioning Allowance is typically 25-30% of the charter fee for crewed yachts. It is paid to the captain, who draws from it to pay for mooring, fuel, food and expenses encountered by the guests whilst onboard. Whatever is left is returned or typically can be left as the tip.

If I have a skipper, what does he need?

All crew require their own cabin (unless previously stated), food provided for all meals during the charter. They will usually have the same food as you when onboard and if in port they are mostly happy to have €15 and go ashore to leave you to have a private meal.

A hostess will make your meals and provide drinks whilst onboard and generally take care of everything in the galley and cleaning duties.

Do you arrange flights as well?

Unfortunately there are too many variable and security steps to allow us to do this. We can recommend the best airports to access your boats.

Do you arrange transfers from the airport?

Transfers can be arranged and incorporated into the charter fee at an additional cost.

Do you arrange food to be supplied?

Certain marinas do have pre-supply companies, however they add 10% onto the total. We recommend that whilst one or two are checking in, another two go and do the supply run to the local supermarket, that way you can maximise your time on board and pick the ingredients that you are accustomed to.

What water sports are available?

It depends on the company and destination. Paddle boards, kayaks, fishing gear, waterskis, fast speed boats, drones etc are all available at an additional price. However, snorkels and fins are typically included in the charter fee and on board already.
