- Day 1
Preveza to Meganisi (Spartochori), 18Nm
Your adventure begins in Preveza, where you set sail south through the narrow Lefkas channel. The fortresses guarding the entrance slip behind you as you make your way along the sheltered coastline. After a refreshing swim off the legendary island of Skorpios, the yacht continues to Meganisi. By late afternoon, you arrive at Spartochori, a hilltop village with sweeping Ionian views. Dinner in a rustic taverna overlooking the bay offers the perfect welcome to your voyage.
- Day 2
Meganisi to Fiskardo (North Kefalonia), 24Nm
Today’s sail takes you past the wooded cliffs of Lefkada before crossing to Ithaca. A midday stop at Afales Bay, with its turquoise waters beneath dramatic cliffs, invites a swim. From here it’s a short hop across the channel to Fiskardo, Kefalonia’s most elegant harbour. Pastel Venetian houses line the waterfront, boutique shops tempt the curious, and dinner at a waterside taverna rounds off the day in style.
- Day 3
Fiskardo to Assos, 12Nm
You slip out of Fiskardo for a leisurely sail around Kefalonia’s rugged northern cape. A stop at Emblisi Bay for a swim in crystalline water offers a quiet interlude before you arrive at Assos. This postcard-perfect village nestles beneath a Venetian fortress, with pastel houses clustered around a tiny bay. Mooring is limited, but anchoring off and rowing ashore is a delight. The evening brings a tranquil meal in a family-run taverna by the water’s edge.
- Day 4
Assos to Lixouri, 20Nm
The morning sail traces Kefalonia’s wild west coast, where towering cliffs plunge into impossibly blue waters. A stop at the iconic Myrtos Beach, one of the most photographed in Greece, is unforgettable for both swimming and sheer spectacle. Continuing south, you reach the town of Lixouri, set across the gulf from Argostoli. Its laid-back, local atmosphere contrasts with the polished harbors of the north. A stroll through the square followed by a fresh seafood supper completes the day.
- Day 5
Lixouri to Argostoli, 15Nm
A short sail across the gulf brings you to Argostoli, Kefalonia’s bustling capital. Loggerhead turtles are often spotted gliding through the harbour as you moor up. Ashore, you can explore the lively promenade, visit the archaeological museum, or wander the morning market. Wine lovers may opt for a short inland excursion to the Omala Valley for a Robola tasting. Dinner in a stylish Argostoli taverna offers a more cosmopolitan feel after days of village charm.
- Day 6
Argostoli to Ithaca (Vathy), 28Nm
An early departure carries you east, past the southern tip of Kefalonia and into open water. A midday swim at Atokos, a private and uninhabited island with dazzling emerald coves, is a highlight of the journey. By evening you enter the great natural harbour of Vathy on Ithaca, steeped in Homeric legend. Here, traditional tavernas and quiet backstreets invite you to slow down and savor the spirit of Odysseus’ island.
- Day 7
Vathy to Preveza, 30Nm
On your final day, you make a longer sail north through the sheltered Ionian channels. A last swim stop at Kastos or Kalamos Island offers a peaceful farewell to the turquoise waters. By evening, you return to Preveza Marina, tying up where your journey began. A final dinner ashore — perhaps with meze and live Greek music — makes for a fitting end to a week of discovery, sailing, and unforgettable Ionian beauty.
