7 days out of Marmaris

COUNTRY: Turkey

CHARTER LENGTH: 7 Days, 197Nm

SAILING TIME: Medium

Turunc is populer tourist destination in the Turkey.
  • Day 1

    Marmaris to Ekincik Bay, 18Nm

Ekincik offers a decent anchorage, a long stretch of sandy beach, an excellent local restaurant, and a small harbour. This is the best place to head if guests fancy taking a trip around Dalyan.

  • Day 2

Ekincik Bay to Manastir Bay, 22Nm

It indents by the isthmus of Kapıdağ Peninsula. The setting is magnificent. The forested hillsides and violet cliffs on both sides are split by ravines. Manastır Koyu is one the most favourite anchorages in Göcek bays. There are two coves, both are adequate anchorages.

  • Day 3

Manastir Bay to Yassica Islands, 13Nm

Yassica Islands are an ideal haven for nature and sea lovers. On land, the islands are covered in fauna, and trekking around and exploring the islands while taking in the views is always a great experience. Aside from the fauna, some ancient ruins give you a small glimpse into history.

  • Day 4

Yassica Islands to Gemiler Adasi, 46Nm

Gemiler Island is a relatively small island in the Mediterranean, measuring 1000 meters long, 400 meters across at its widest spot, and about 100 meters tall. The island is surrounded by mainland on three sides, which means it is well-protected during bad weather. Boats anchored in the channel on island’s north shore remain safe, even during the worst of storms.

The first is that the island is believed to have been the original location of the tomb of St. Nicholas of Myra, which is supported by the fact that at least one of the churches contains paintings of his likeness. The second is a claim by historians that that medieval sailors nicknamed the island in honour of their patron saint – Saint Nicholas – as it provided safe harbour during storms, thereby keeping them safe. The ruins of four churches can be found on Gemiler Island. (Some sources I’ve read indicate there was a fifth church on the island, but I cannot find reliable documentation – and I’ve only found 4 during my (admittedly-uneducated) wanders around the island.) The churches, all built in the late 5th and early 6th centuries, were central to the Orthodox Christian community.

  • Day 5

Gemiler Adasi to Ekincik Bay, 66Nm

Ekincik offers a decent anchorage, a long stretch of sandy beach, an excellent local restaurant, and a small harbour. This is the best place to head if guests fancy taking a trip around Dalyan.

  • Day 6

Ekincik Bay to Inceada Gebeklise Island, 17Nm

The bottom is weed at the entrance and becomes clear sand. Boats can be pushed off or anchored with a line ashore. Gebekse Koyu affords sheltering from breeze. The slopes are covered by olive trees. The ruins ashore are from Byzantine era. This anchorage gets crowded by the tripper boats from Marmaris, but it is quite after 16.00 pm.

  • Day 7

Inceada Gebeklise Island to Marmaris, 15Nm

Having arrived in Marmaris, guests can have a stroll around town, followed by a delicious dinner in the harbour. Afterwards, enjoy a cocktail in one of the many local bars or discover Marmaris’ vibrant nightlife by dancing the night away until the early hours in one of its famous clubs.
