Too small for most cruise ships, Gustavia’s harbour is a favourite layover for private yachts, and with prices well beyond the means of the masses, visits are mostly limited to a few hours of day-trippers from nearby St. Martin/St. Maarten. It’s a great base for exploring St. Martin’s secluded beaches (many clothing optional) and its more vibrant, family-popular ones. Marigot is within easy reach of the famed restaurants at nearby Grand Case, said to have the Caribbean’s best dining. Kept temperate by trade winds, Marigot stays warm and sunny year-round.
